Rushing to get everything organised before going to Fish River and then on our travels. Larry had to change bikes in the last few days just to add to our load! Bike looks great!  Now we have to sort out new registration papers, for the Carnet etc, new insurance!

The house is empty, and leased for a year.  All other preperations are underway and moving along!

We are hoping to have a small farewell, on the evening of 7 Jan, to be ready for an early departure on 8 Jan.  First stop - Durban area, then Swaziland, Xai Xai, Vilanculos for two nights, Casa Msiki, then Lake Malawi!

Roll on 8 Jan!

Larry

Well, plans continue.  The Otter Trail has been beaten, and enjoyed!

L& S

Bikes are still being worked on, the 1150 gsa is back in PE, hopefully to find a vibration that has been worrying me, and seems to be getting worse..  Sharon's new Panniers are here, but no mounting brackets have arrived yet, but at least we can try packing them.  Also changing the exhaust on her bike, removing the catalytic converter, for African fuel.

Tyres have been bought, although we are still hoping to use Heidenaus - and these are possibly due in SA in mid Dec!

Baviaans 2010

15 /10 / 2010

Just got back from a great 4 day trip, from Grahamstown, to PE, Jefferys Bay, and into Baviaans kloof.  From there to Uniondale and Prince Albert, through Meirings poort - really spectacular - and up Swartberg pass.  From there into Gamkaskloof and Die Hel. First time we have been there, and will definitely return, for a longer stay.  Fantastic mountain scenery.
Back home via George, Knysna and Storms River Mouth.  1350 km covered, over some very rough terrain.
This trip was a good trial run, for our departure in January, with the 4 of us.  Camping equipment was tested, packing lists have been amended, and we are now getting closer - and more exited!
Still lots of work ahead of us, with Visa applications, Carnets etc.  And still need to hike the Otter trail next weekend!

Check previous trips for latest pics.
