Just got the news that we have to be home by mid August!! We promised our Daughter - Amy - that she could get us home by having another baby. Well, She's due at the end of August!!! So, current deadline looks like mid August!
We are back in Dar, after spending a few days on Zanzibar. Found a very nice resort on Kendwa beach, amoungst hundreds of mainly European tourists. Fortunately we were on the outskirts, so not to bad.
Visited Jozani forest, saw the colubus monkeys - ridiculously tame - a very few birds. The people on the island are extremely densely populated, with little space for wildlife of any sort - except crows!
Now waiting for a parcel from SA, with spares for Sharon's bike. Went to Saudi Embassy, to try to get a visa, so that we could cross from Sudan to Saudi, but no luck. Seems we might still have to go via egypt, but avoid the problem areas - as with all countries.
Our routing from here will probably be up the Tanz north coast, to Saadani Nat park, Pangani - on the coast, then to Arusha, hopefully to Ngorongora crater, a bit of Serengeti, then westwards below Lake Victoria, to Rwanda, then Uganda, and into Western Kenya, Mt Elgon. From there to Nairobi, and northwards to Ethiopia, via Marsabit, and the dreaded road! Next to Sudan....
But who knows???? Time will tell.
Pics to follow.
